Curtain Call

Busan International Short Film Festival has emerged as one of Asia’s premier short film festivals, extending its influence well beyond Korea. Through its International and Korean Competitions, the festival presents the latest works by promising filmmakers from both Korea and around the world, encouraging creative exchange through friendly competition. Each year, the festival selects a central theme and curates a diverse lineup of invited films that explore topics such as history, society, and the ever-evolving role of cinema as the seventh art — solidifying BISFF’s place as a leading celebration of short films in Asia.

As part of its Special Screenings section, the 42nd BISFF in 2025 presents four thoughtfully curated programs. “Curtain Call” brings together award-winning short films from some of the world’s most renowned festivals in 2024, including Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. The “BISFF Short Film Project” showcases outstanding works by Korean and Busan-based filmmakers supported through BISFF’s production initiatives. “MUVI & MOVIE” highlights music videos aligned with this year’s festival theme, “Cinema & Sound”. Finally, the “BISFF Open Theater” offers outdoor screenings at Dureraum Square, located within the Busan Cinema Center. Don’t miss this year’s expanded and exciting Special Screenings — only at BISFF 2025.
