Cheolgyu, who has been living a stable life, is unexpectedly visited by his old hometown friend, Younghoon. As Younghoon prepares for his wedding, he asks Cheolgyu to be his Hamjinabi (a traditional wedding chest bearer). Cheolgyu hesitates — after all, they hadn’t kept in touch. But then, he learns that the bride is Sooni.
"How can I buy it before I know what's inside?"
Like a baseball thrown back his way, karma comes back to Cheolgyu, who finds himself pulled into the task of delivering the ham (wedding chest). While the Hamjinabi ritual appears to be a voluntary tradition, those involved seem less like willing participants and more like individuals summoned by forces beyond their control. The film masterfully blends reality and the surreal, where the living and the dead seem to coexist, keeping viewers on edge from start to finish. (KANG Byunghwa)
